ASHEBORO — The long holiday weekend began with various celebrations in Randolph County.
Residents and visitors took part in numerous activities related to the Fourth of July.
Fireworks shows could be viewed in several communities – and some of those began early.
Without a holiday home game, the Asheboro ZooKeepers summer collegiate baseball team held one of its signature events July 2. That came marked the first of various fireworks shows across a period of several nights.
Others were held in Archdale and Randleman.
The Millboro parade was held July 4 as the annual activity continued to serve as a grassroots, rural event.
** There’s more to come in terms of celebrations. The big event in Liberty comes a week after the July 4 holiday. The Liberty July Festival is slated for 4-10 p.m. Saturday.
The main attractions will take place in front of Liberty Elementary School. It’s described as the largest event of the year overseen by the Liberty Parks and Recreation Department. A fireworks show caps the event.
