Asheboro seeks support in national contest
ASHEBORO — The City of Asheboro is seeking recognition in a national contest.
Asheboro has been nominated as part of America’s Favorite Small Towns, a competition presented by Parade and Steller.
It’s a nationwide program highlighting communities with populations of less than 250,000 and celebrates the places that exemplify the spirit, charm, and character that make small town living special.
Asheboro’s pitch is that this puts the city in line for additional visibility that could result in tourism and economic growth. The winning city received an official designation with promotional assets, according to the city.
The top city in the voting will featured in Parade magazine.
Voting takes place online at americasfavoritesmalltowns.parade.com
A person can vote once daily, though a valid email address is required. Voting began in mid-November.
Results of the competition are expected to be unveiled in the spring, according to contest information. State winners will be announced June 1.
“Asheboro is honored to be included, and looks forward to sharing our story with visitors from across the nation,” the city’s release said.
