Asheboro shooting puts two men in hospital
ASHEBORO — Two men were airlifted to a hospital from Asheboro after a shooting in the city just days before Christmas.
Police found Paul Sturdivant, 37, and John Marshall, 41, suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived at an area near Dunlap Street and Brewer Street shortly before 6:30 p.m. Dec. 22.
The next day, police reported that both men were in stable condition. The Criminal Investigations Division has worked on the case.
There was a police presence in the area for hours as information was gathered. Police said there was no known ongoing danger to the public as a result of the incident.
Asheboro Police released no additional information on the shooting by the end of the week.
This is at least the second notable shooting in public in Asheboro in the past few months.
In late August, Alexander Benitez-Hernandez, 23, died from a gunshot wound suffered in a parking lot near Marshall’s on East Dixie Drive.
There were charges of second-degree murder filed against Brandon Russell, 43, of Denton.
Based on police information from that case, there were multiple shots fired in that incident.
