The senior was among the many key contributors for the Cougars during their run to the state championship.

Moreno-Gorostieta was on the field for almost the entire game for the Class 4A state final when Southwestern Randolph topped Newton-Conover 3-0 last week in Greensboro.

The Cougars relied on a core of veteran players, with Moreno-Gorostieta one of them.

Southwestern Randolph wrapped up a 27-1 season with the program’s first state title. The Cougars ended the year on a 21-game winning streak.
