15 schools designated as low-performing by state assessment

ASHEBORO — The Randolph County Board of Education met Monday, where they were presented with the state assessments for all the schools in the district, particularly the low-performing schools. The board was given an update on the procedures for the preliminary plans for improvement/school improvement plans for schools that were designated as low-performing by the recent state assessments. The Department of Public Instruction identified 15 schools within the district that are designated as low-performing schools. LIBERTY — With such a major project involving the Greensboro-Randolph megasite, there are bound to be new topics that might create attention in the region. One of them is air quality. Providence Grove  |  girls’ golf Wright secured Player of the Year honors in the Piedmont Athletic Conference. She was the season-long champion in the conference.  In last week’s final PAC match, Providence Grove emerged as the team champion with a 35-shot edge on runner-up Eastern Randolph at Siler City Country Club. Trinity was the third-place team, followed by Randleman and Wheatmore. Wright will be among the entrants in next week’s Class 1-A/2-A Central Regional at Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe.

ASHEBORO — Two major festivals in Randolph County were called off last weekend because of weather concerns related to the impact from Hurricane Ian. The Fall Festival in Asheboro and NASCAR Day Festival in Randleman were wiped off the schedule.
