ASHEBORO — U.S. Marshals were involved in an arrest of a man with Asheboro ties connected to alleged drug trafficking and planned to extradite him back to North Carolina from New York. The development involving Ryheem Miller played out when he was tracked down in a rural upstate New York city. According to the Norwich (N.Y.) ASHEBORO – Dr. Ryan Moody will start his job as the new principal of Asheboro High School in mid-July. He should know his way around. Moody’s hiring was announced last week. He comes after serving as principal of Morehead High School in Eden for four years. Moody replaces Dr. Penny Crooks, who has been with the city school system since 2003 and held the title of principal at the high school since 2019. She’s taking a position in the central office. ASHEBORO — The City of Asheboro Council met last Thursday with the proposed 2022-23 fiscal year budget at the top of the agenda. The proposed 2022-23 budget is $61,207,222 of which $42,263,842 is the general fund and $18,493,380 is the water and sewer fund.
