Duggins delivers in Chargers race at Caraway Speedway

SOPHIA — Brody Duggins won the first of five special Charger Challenge races by capturing Saturday night’s feature at Caraway Speedway.

Duggins had the pole position for the 50-lap race and mostly dominated.

Matthew Smith was the runner-up, followed by Cody Griffin, Ben Banker and Tyler Bush.

The next Charger Challenge race is June 13.

** In 602 Modifieds, David Creed top the field ahead of Dustin Croonfield for the 35 laps.

** In UCARs, Tito Clapp was declared winner of dual 10-lap features.

Clapp was ahead of Mason Vance in the first race, with Skyler Hughes in third. In the rematch, Josh Phillips and Hughes were first and second, respectively, across the finish line but the were moved to the bottom of the standings because of camber violations, leaving Clapp as the winner.

Tony Price was the runner-up in the second race, followed by Vance, Jake Cline and Justin Smith.

** The Mini Stocks feature lasted 20 laps with Brandon Cotts the winner ahead of Mason Troxler, Cody Gwynn, Matt Alley and Steven Hedrick.

** For Crown Vics, Christian Morris had a narrow victory on Corey Watt in the 12-lap race, with Cody Mullen, Ricky June and Corey Luejten in the next few spots. TJ Gibson was third on the track, but his car failed an inspection so he was moved to the end.

** In U.S. Legends Cars, Scotty Benford prevailed ahead of Ethan Jaques, Collin Vanasse, Tony Arnold and Cal Anderson in the 25-lap feature.

** In Bandoleros, Charlie Evans won ahead of Carter Kennedy.

There’s another race card at the track Saturday, with the events including a 99-lap Limited Late Models race.
