Firearms bring charges, concerns at Randleman schools

RANDLEMAN — A student drop-off at Randleman Middle School led to charges filed against a man for allegedly having a loaded gun on campus.

Corey Saucier, 36, was charged in the May 4 incident. Police reports say Saucier brought a 9mm pistol with eight rounds onto campus.

There was no known threat to students or staff members, according to information from the Randolph County School System.

Saucier allegedly had the firearm on his belt May 4 when he exited a vehicle during the student drop-off. He didn’t enter the building.

Saucier paid a $1,00 bond. He has a July 8 court date.

Meanwhile on the same day, school and Randolph County sheriff’s office personnel investigated an incident of a shotgun in the student parking area at adjacent Randleman High School. Other weapons also were found in the vehicle and confiscated, school officials said.
