Helene documentary to be shown in Asheboro
ASHEBORO — A documentary titled “Rising Above Helene” will be shown later this month at the Randolph County Agricultural Center.
Randolph County is partnering with the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners in showing the documentary. The screening will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 30.
In September 2024, the remnants of Hurricane Helene soaked the mounts in western North Carolina, resulting in flooding and the reshaping of landscape. Floods and mudslides wiped out communities.
The documentary, according to information provided by the county, will depict the strength of people and community. There are interviews, visuals and on-the-ground storytelling. The resiliency of mounting communities is highlighted.
The documentary also showcases on local governments played a role in the recovery, helping to coordinate emergency response and
support long-term rebuilding. Based on a preview of the film, these efforts combined with countless volunteers and community
members helped set the foundation for renewal and hope. The film captures the quiet determination of neighbors who came together to rebuild what was broken.
The showing of the documentary, which is a product of NCACC’s 100 Strong Productions, is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Registration is requested at Rising Above Helene | Randolph County, NC
