Randleman’s baseball team secured a conference championship for the 17th consecutive season by winning two games last week against Ledford.
The Tigers needed to win both to tie with Central Davidson atop the Piedmont Athletic Conference with 11-1 records. The teams split two league meetings.
Randleman whipped Ledford 13-3 at home with Tate Andrews hitting a grand slam. Jake Riddle providing three hits and scoring two runs and John Kirkpatrick handling the pitching in the five-inning game.
In last Thursday’s rematch, Randleman rolled to a 15-0 six-inning road victory with Riddle and Andrews combining for the shutout. Andrews drove in three runs and Jackson Hill tripled and doubled.
The PAC didn’t hold a conference tournament.
Four Rivers Conference
Third-seeded Eastern Randolph put together two upsets with lopsided victories to win the conference tournament.
The Wildcats blew out host and top-seeded Northwood 11-1 on Friday night, defeating a team coached by their former coach Brent Haynes.
Bryson Marley struck out nine batters in 4 2/3 innings and Cade McCallum followed with 1 1/3 shutout innings of relief.
Maddox Dunn knocked in three runs and Chance Holdaway, Isaiah Batchelor and Marley all scored three runs.
Eastern Randolph built a nine-game winning streak prior to entering the state playoffs.
In the conference tournament semifinals, Holdaway pitched a complete game and drove in four runs as the Wildcats upended second-seeded Uwharrie Charter Academy 12-3. McCallum had four hits and Batchelor scored three runs.
Eastern Randolph beat sixth-seeded North Moore 7-4 behind pitching from Dunn, McCallum and Holdaway at the beginning of the week.
Fourth-seeded Southwestern Randolph eliminated fifth-seeded Jordan-Matthews 9-1 as Lucas Connor homered and Brady Armfield rapped a triple and two doubles. Matthew Blankenship was the winning pitcher.
The Cougars were ousted in a 3-2 semifinal loss at Northwood despite Logan Weidman pitching a complete game with nine strikeouts.
Central Carolina 3-A Conference
Third-seeded West Davidson overcame a two-run deficit to defeat top-seeded Trinity 13-4 in the tournament final at Finch Field in Thomasville.
Trinity ace Lincoln Coble took the loss. Peyton Williams homered for the Bulldogs.
Earlier in the week, Trinity trounced fourth-seeded East Davidson 14-4 with Walker Parrish driving in five runs and Brody Little hit a two-run home run.
Second-seeded Providence Grove lost 7-5 to West Davidson in the semifinals. The Patriots led 5-3 going to the sixth inning.
Third-seeded West Davidson edged sixth-seeded Wheatmore 11-10 in the quarterfinals. Nathan Oxendine homered for Wheatmore.
Triad Area Athletic Conference
Second-seeded Asheboro fell 9-3 to third-seeded Northern Guilford in the semifinals.
