Prep basketball roundup: Providence Grove girls collect two victories

CLIMAX — The Providence Grove girls’ basketball team avenged a loss to Burlington Williams, winning this week’s home game by 59-42 in pre-Christmas action.

The Patriots also won a home game the next night against Southern Guilford, rolling 53-15.

** Trinity overpowered visiting South Davidson for the second time this season, winning 55-12.

 

Boys’ basketball

Eastern Randolph won for the first time this season by running away from visiting Lee Christian 97-60 on Dec. 20, with Emmitt Frye producing 21 points, Cam Hinton scoring 18 points and Tyler Gee pouring in 15 points. The Wildcats lost their first six games.

** Providence Grove lost a pair of home games last week.

Burlington Williams beat Providence Grove 73-53 despite Will Dabbs’ 27 points and Andrew Thomas’ 13 points.

The next night, the Patriots fell 66-61 in overtime to Southern Guilford. Thomas racked up 22 points and Dabbs provided 15 points and 10 rebounds.

** Trinity blasted visiting South Davidson 72-25, with Zaire Gill’s 19 points and 10 rebounds leading the way.
