Prep football: Southwestern Randolph overcomes North Moore; Trinity wins in OT

ASHEBORO – Southwestern Randolph’s Noah Stills scored two second-half touchdowns as the host Cougars overcame North Moore for a 34-7 non-conference victory Monday night.

Southwestern Randolph (1-1) trailed 7-0 at halftime. Asher Perkins, Brody Shepard and Owen Whelan also scored touchdowns.

North Moore (0-2), which is coached by Asheboro resident Andrew Carrouth, has already equal last year’s regular-season loss total. The Mustangs also lost last year to Southwestern Randolph.

The game was several in the region contested Monday night because of storm-related postponements from Friday night.

Trinity 34, Albemarle 28, OT: At Albemarle, the visiting Bulldogs picked up their first victory of the season.

Trinity (1-1) scored the final points of the fourth quarter to force overtime. Albemarle is 0-2.
