Prep softball: Randleman, Southwestern Randolph hold high seeds for state playoffs

Randleman’s softball team is the top seed in the Class 4A East Region, with another Randolph County team not far behind for the state playoffs that begin this week.

Southwestern Randolph holds the No. 3 seed on the bracket, while Uwharrie Charter Academy is seeded No. 12.

Brackets were released Monday morning.

UCA (7-11) will begin play Tuesday at home vs. No. 21 seed Red Springs, with the winner going Friday to fifth-seeded Bunn.

Randleman (22-2) will be home Friday in the second round against either No. 16 seed Eastern Wayne or No. 17 seed Washington.

Southwestern Randolph (18-4) is home game Friday will be against No. 14 seed North Lenoir or No. 19 seed West Craven.

The No. 2 seed in the region is Central Davidson (19-4), which finished second to Randleman in the Piedmont Athletic Conference.

 

Class 3A

As the East Region’s No. 9 seed, Providence Grove (16-10) opens at home against No. 24 seed Louisburg on Tuesday. The winner goes to eighth-seeded Pender on Friday.

No. 23 seed Eastern Randolph (3-16) opens at No. 10 seed Northwood (13-10) on Tuesday in a matchup between Four Rivers Conference teams. The winner goes to seventh-seeded Martin County.

In the West Region, No. 17 seed Wheatmore (9-11) visits No. 16 seed Mountain Heritage on Tuesday, with the winner assigned Friday at top-seeded West Lincoln.

Trinity (2-13) was left out of the field.

 

Class 6A

No. 20 seed Asheboro (8-14) travels to No. 13 seed Asheville Roberson on Tuesday, with the winner going to fourth-seeded Ragsdale on Friday.
