Two Eastern Randolph students die in car wreck

RAMSEUR – The Eastern Randolph High School community is in mourning after the death of two students in an automobile accident Thursday night. Mario Lara, 15, died at the scene. Tyler Franklin, who was the driver of the Infiniti, died Friday after he was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Two other students were hospitalized following the single-vehicle accident. Franklin, 17, was the son of Kevin Franklin, who’s president of the Randolph County Economic Development Corporation. Accident near Eastern Randolph High School results in airlifting injured woman (updated)

Traffic was backed up on N.C. 64 following an accident near Eastern Randolph Road. (PJ Ward-Brown/Randolph Record) RAMSEUR – A Siler City woman was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill from an accident scene near Eastern Randolph High School early Wednesday afternoon. Asjiah Salome Rivera, 21, suffered serious injuries, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on U.S. 64 at Lee Layne Road in Randolph County. Rivera was traveling west on U.S. 64 in a 2010 Honda car and failed to stop for the red light, according to the highway patrol report. The vehicle collided…
