The restaurant is located on the Asheboro Mall grounds in a separate structure or outparcel from the main multi-store enclosure. Its address is 1501 East Dixie Dr. in Asheboro. Parents of shooting suspect in Asheboro fatality face felony charges

ASHEBORO – The Asheboro Police Department obtained warrants for the parents of a teenage suspect in a fatal shooting earlier this month. They’ve been charged with aiding the suspect in evading arrest. Both the mother, Denisse Vera-Covarrubias, and the father, Alfredo Martinez Ramirez, were placed in Randolph County Jail, the police department said. Pedro Ortiz-Perez died May 14, nearly two weeks after a shooting near North Asheboro Park. Ortiz-Perez, 16, was a member of the high school boys’ soccer team at Southwestern Randolph. WILMINGTON – UNC Wilmington’s Trevor Marsh from Asheboro was the Most Outstanding Player of the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament as the Seahawks repeated as baseball league champions Sunday at Brooks Field. Marsh went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs, including a two with a seventh-inning single that put the Seahawks ahead to stay in second-seeded UNCW’s 6-4 victory against top-seeded College of Charleston. Pedro Ortiz-Perez (Courtesy photo) Southwestern Randolph sophomore played on soccer team ASHEBORO – Southwestern Randolph High School has been mourning the loss of 16-year Pedro Ortiz-Perez, who was the victim of a fatal shooting earlier this month. Ortiz-Perez died May 14 from injuries sustained in the incident near North Asheboro Park, Asheboro police said. Ortiz-Perez was injured in a shooting May 3 and transported to the emergency room at Randolph Hospital by vehicle with a gunshot wound to the jaw and neck. ASHEBORO – High school postseason baseball – and some softball – will be happening in Asheboro even if there’s not an in-county team involved. Next week, Asheboro will be the host school for next week’s semifinal and final rounds in the Mid-Piedmont Conference Tournament for both baseball and softball.
