Coleman checked at .495 entering this week. Her numbers reflect a conference-leading 53 hits in 107 official at-bats with three doubles. The Tar Heels leadoff batter also has drawn 14 walks with only eight strikeouts. Behind Coleman in batting average is Florida State’s Jaysoni Beachum at .470. Freshman Summer Bowman was part of one of the best seasons in Appalachian State women’s soccer history. Bowman, a former Wheatmore player, compiled four goals and three assists. She was second on the team in goals and her 11 points ranked third on the team. Bowman, a forward, appeared in 15 games, starting nine of those. The Mountaineers placed third in the Sun Belt regular season for its best winning percentage in conference play with a 6-2-2 mark.
