Providence Grove, boys’ soccer Cortes has been a key upperclassman on a team that has received large contributions from a cast of younger newcomers. Cortes, a senior forward, entered this week with a share of the team’s scoring lead with 11 goals. The Patriots snapped a four-game losing streak by winning 6-4 last week at Eastern Randolph, with Cortes scoring one of the goals in the Piedmont Athletic Conference game. Cortes registered two goals in last week’s 5-4 non-conference road loss to Lexington. With an 8-8 record, the Patriots have eclipsed their victory total from the last four seasons combined.…
