ASHEBORO — The lineup of nine free concerts in Asheboro has been announced by the City of Asheboro and Downtown Asheboro Inc. The Rock’n the Park Concert Series is slated for Friday nights at Bicentennial Park and the long-standing Summer Concert Series will have another edition on Sundays. ASHEBORO – The City of Asheboro is accepting applications to serve on the Asheboro Planning Board. Applicants should reside within the city limits of Asheboro or within the city’s extraterritorial planning jurisdiction. Interested individuals are advised to submit a résumé and Interest Form for Service on Boards and Commissions, which can be found on the city’s website at www.asheboronc.gov or at City Hall. City Council will direct the appointment process for applicants seeking to serve as a representative of the city limits. ASHEBORO — There’s an opening on Randolph County’s planning board and zoning board of adjustment after the passing of Ralph Modlin. Modlin, 69, was an Archdale man. He died Oct. 26. Commissioners praised his dedication to the planning and zoning board along with his impact. Commissioners chairman Darrell Frye said suggestions regarding a replacement for Modlin on the board should be submitted to county manager Hal Johnson. “He was always very diligent and had a great personality,” county attorney Ben Morgan said of Modlin.
