Randleman Chamber receives scholarship

RANDLEMAN — The Randleman Chamber was awarded a scholarship for executive director Jeff Freeman to attend a fall management conference in South Carolina. That was announced during the Carolinas Association of Chambers of Commerce Executive last month in Chapel Hill. In all, 35 scholarships were awarded to CACCE members. Chambers receiving scholarships similar to Freeman were representing the Alleghany County Chamber, Anson County Chamber, Greater Topsail Area Chamber and Stanly County Chamber. Also, the Archdale-Trinity Chamber was awarded one of 22 scholarships to assist with registration. RANDLEMAN – The need for overnight accommodations and more meeting space might be reaching higher levels in Randleman, particularly after May’s announcement that Ross Stores is planning to build a distribution center in the city. “We have been talking to developers trying to get a hotel here,” said Jeff Freeman, executive director of the Randleman Chamber of Commerce. “We believe that is a need. Nixed festivals will have to wait until next year

ASHEBORO — Two major festivals in Randolph County were called off last weekend because of weather concerns related to the impact from Hurricane Ian. The Fall Festival in Asheboro and NASCAR Day Festival in Randleman were wiped off the schedule. The Randolph Arts Guild, which manages the event in Asheboro, announced the decision to nix the event. “for the safety of our vendors, entertainers, attendees, sponsors, and downtown merchants,” according to a statement from the guild.
