Attack creates concern in Uwharrie National Forest The U.S. Forest Service is warning visitors to be on alert following coyote attacks on a trail in the Uwharrie National Forest with the animal testing positive for rabies. ASHEBORO – There were 9,245 voters casting ballots in early voting in Randolph County. That was the final tally reported by the Randolph County Board of Elections on Saturday. Saturday marked the heaviest turnout for early voting with 1,294 voters. That was slightly higher than Friday’s 1,241. Early voting began Feb. 15. ASHEBORO – More than 1,300 voters went to the polls in Randolph County during the first four days of early voting for March’s primary. Early voting began last Thursday.
