Grant awarded for snacks at Ramseur Elementary School

RAMSEUR – Ramseur Elementary School has been awarded a USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grant for this school year. Beginning this week, a fresh fruit or vegetable snack will be provided to all students at the school at no cost. Snacks will be available in the classroom during designated snack time. Students won’t be required to eat the snacks, but will be encouraged to try the fruits and vegetables.

ASHEBORO – The Randolph County School System's board of education met last Thursday for a wrap-up at the end of the school year and the acceptance of several grants related to child nutrition. The first was The Dairy Alliance Youth Wellness Program Grant from The Dairy Alliance for cafeteria equipment. Randolph County Board of Education approves pay increase for School Nutrition Department staff

ASHEBORO — The Randolph County Board of Education met June 29, when it approved pay increases for school nutrition department staff to fill vacancies and retain staff. “The school nutrition department is proposing an increase of 6.2-9.4% for all school-based School Nutrition classified employees, including school nutrition assistants, school nutrition assistant managers, and school nutrition managers,” said executive director of operations Dale Brinkley. “In addition, the school nutrition department is proposing a 5% increase for all school nutrition central services support staff.
