Five schools from Randolph County will take part in the SportsTone.net Christmas Invitational.
The three-day event at Asheboro begins Saturday with eight games – four girls’ games, four boys’ games. There will eight games Monday and Tuesday as well.
The lineup of games varies.
For the girls, the first round pits Trinity vs. Randleman (10 a.m.), Eastern Guilford vs. Wheatmore (1 p.m.), Chatham Charter vs. Southwestern Randolph (4 p.m.) and Jordan-Matthews vs. Asheboro (7 p.m.
On the boys’ side, it’s Wheatmore vs. Randleman (11:30 a.m.), Eastern Guilford vs. Jordan-Matthews (2:30 p.m.), Trinity vs. Chatham Charter (5:30 p.m.) and Southwestern Randolph vs. Asheboro (8:30 p.m.).
There are schools from the Triad Area Athletic Conference (Asheboro, Eastern Guilford), two from the Four Rivers Conference (Southwestern Randolph, Jordan-Matthews) and two from the Central Carolina 3-A Conference (Trinity, Wheatmore).
Last year’s champions were Southwestern Randolph’s girls and Randleman’s boys.
Other tournaments
The Providence Grove boys’ team will be in the Ledford tournament, which runs Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Eastern Randolph’s boys play in the Lee County tournament.
Uwharrie Charter Academy’s boys will be in a showcase event in Charleston, S.C.
