ASHEBORO – Wheatmore’s Ellie Garrison scored three goals and Bri Hill posted two goals as the Warriors clinched another outright Piedmont Athletic Conference championship in girls’ soccer, defeating visiting Uwharrie Charter Academy 5-4 on Monday night.
UCA, which dropped out of a second-place tie, received two goals from Kendal Jarrell and another from Jazmin Palma.
Also Monday, second-place Providence Grove zipped past host Eastern Randolph 9-0 with three goals apiece from Rylee Stover and Taryn Waugh.
Garrison scored seven goals in Wheatmore’s 9-0 victory against host Southwestern Randolph last week. Natalie Bowman had one goal and three assists.
Also last week, UCA’s 9-0 blitzing of visiting Eastern Randolph included three goals apiece from Palma and Jarrell and two goals from Lily Charlesworth. Providence Grove won 2-1 at Trinity with Noelle Swaim posting two goals and later dominated visiting Randleman 6-0 with Waugh scoring three times and Anaeli Puente Garza scoring twice.
Southwestern Randolph’s 3-0 triumph against host Eastern Randolph came with a goal and an assist from Mallory Garner.
In the Mid-Piedmont Conference, Asheboro won 4-0 with two Jaira Arellano goals at Central Davidson. Later in the week, North Davidson thumped host Asheboro 7-1.
