Former Randleman baseball pitcher Seth Way, in his first year in college, has undergone Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
Way is in his freshman year at Liberty, though he hasn’t pitch for the Flames because of the ailment.
“I’m currently a little over four weeks post-surgery,” he said last weekend.
Way said he has been involved with the Liberty team on a regular basis in terms of off-field work. He’s not on road trips with the Flames.
Way was the left fielder on Randleman’s 2022 state championship team as a sophomore. When he wasn’t pitching, he moved to center field in 2023 and to infield positions in 2024.
Liberty enters the last couple of weeks of the regular season with a 26-22 record. The team’s leading batter is Tanner Marsh of Asheboro with a .303 batting average. Marsh has 16 stolen bases on 19 attempts. Also for the Flames, former Randleman pitcher Trey Cooper has made 13 relief appearances without a decision this year.
