Caraway adds inductees to Wall of Fame before racing

SOPHIA – Five men were inducted into Caraway Speedway’s “Wall of Fame” in prerace activities Saturday night.

Jesse Coke, Wayne Andrews, Homer Allred, Charles Sweatt and Richard Townsend make up the Class of 2024.

On the track, the Lowder family had a big night.

Rylan Lowder claimed the Bandoleros feature, pulling away from runner-up Mason Roberts. Michael Scronce, Lincoln Baucom and Kolton Peckish rounded out the top three. Lowder took the checkered flag before his father and grandfather competed in the same race later on the card.

** For 602 Modifieds, Josh Lowder cruised to victory, while his father, Dean Lowder, was the runner-up, while the next three spots were held by Cody Norman, Kevin Orlando and Jaxson Casper.

Casper won the division’s second race, with Ryan Kuhlthau in second and Josh Lowder taking third.

** In Legends, LaQuan McCoy was the winner ahead of Nathan Bulkeley, Mardy Roberts, Ben Mack and Samuel Macedo.

** There were twin features for Challengers.

Gary Ledbetter prevailed in the first race ahead of Bryson Pickard, Blake Shupe, Brody Duggins and Justin Hancock.

For the second race, Dalton Ledbetter took advantage of a front-row starter and posted the victory, followed by Schadt, Hancock, Garry Ledbetter and Duggins.

** UCARs held a 15-lap feature with Steven Collins the winner by holding off Ron Mock, who was followed by Justin Smith, Daniel Hughes and Tito Clapp.

** For Mod 4s, Jimmy Crigger claimed the top spot ahead of Jamison Whittington.

** The Bootleggers winner was Bentley Black, who finished ahead of teammate Corey Rose.

The next racing night comes Sept. 7 with a visit from the SMART Modified Tour. Also on the slate will be 602 Modifieds, Challengers, UCARs, Mod 4s, Bootleggers and the Bowman Gray Sportsman division.
