Trinity completed a sweep of the Piedmont Athletic Conference in duals by winning 70-0 last week at Eastern Randolph. ASHEBORO – Caressa King’s 16 points and Jordin George’s 15 points helped Southwestern Randolph to a 54-24 victory against visiting Uwharrie Charter Academy in Piedmont Athletic Conference girls’ basketball Friday night. It’s tight atop the Piedmont Athletic Conference boys’ basketball schedule near the midway mark of the league slate. Trinity suffered its first PAC loss of the season when host Eastern Randolph won 81-77 in Friday night’s game at Ramseur. That was a rematch of last February’s PAC Tournament championship game on the same court, with the Wildcats winning that one as well. Eastern Randolph also entered this week with just one PAC defeat. Southwestern Randolph, girls’ basketball‌ George has been a productive contributor throughout the season for the Cougars, who are one of the area’s top teams in girls’ basketball. She’s a versatile sophomore. The Cougars won two games last week by defeating Eastern Randolph, with George scoring a team-high 15 points, and Wheatmore. That pushed the team’s record to 14-2. Last month, George was named Most Valuable Player of the SportsTone.net Invitational at Asheboro when the Cougars won three games on the way to the holiday tournament championship.

TRINITY – Trinity’s wrestling team has rolled into the final week of the regular season with numerous accomplishments and visions of even more. The Bulldogs held a 29-0 record after posting five more victories in Saturday’s Patriot Duals. High school basketball state regionals, finals move to Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM – The high school basketball state finals are moving to Winston-Salem in March, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced Monday. The site will be Joel Coliseum. It will be part of a week-long stretch of games at the coliseum, where regional finals also will be contested for both the East Region and the West Region. During the stretch of March 11-16, the regional games will be held Monday through Thursday (March 11-14), with the title games Friday and Saturday (March 15-16).
