GREENSBORO – Two-time state wrestling champion Lorenzo Alston of Uwharrie Charter Academy posted a 2-2 record in the Super 32 Challenge last weekend at the coliseum complex in Greensboro. Alston, who has rolled to a pair of Class 1A state titles, is a junior. Several Randolph County wrestlers entered the Super 32 Challenge, which is one of the premier events for wrestlers of high school age and attracted participants from around the country, including those with international age-group championships. ASHEBORO – Uwharrie Charter Academy’s volleyball team has tightened the race atop the Piedmont Athletic Conference. The Eagles pulled even with first-place Randleman in the loss column by defeating the visiting Tigers last week. The Eagles won 15-12, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-6 with Emory Johnson’s 40 assists, Carolina Way’s 19 kills and 17 digs and Kayden Faglier’s 10 kills and seven blocks leading the way. Uwharrie Charter Academy, volleyball Faglier has been a force on the front line for the Eagles as they’ve collected victories on a regular basis. Uwharrie Charter Academy, volleyball / softball Kenzie Hill made a big impact for Uwharrie Charter Academy in a couple of sports. She played for the highly successful volleyball and softball teams. She was an All-Piedmont Athletic Conference softball player as a sophomore and a senior. This year, she led the Eagles in batting with a .459 average and also turned in team highs with 34 runs batted in and 33 stolen bases. She provided two home runs and 10 triples.
