ASHEBORO – A Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant has opened in Asheboro, the first in Randolph County.

The restaurant is located on the Asheboro Mall grounds in a separate structure or outparcel from the main multi-store enclosure. Its address is 1501 East Dixie Dr. in Asheboro.

A worker at the Chipotle location said: “There has been a lot of buzz. There has been endless traffic.”

Chipotle opened June 5 in Asheboro. The restaurant hours are 10:45 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. There is a drive-up window or, as the company calls it, a “Chipotlane.”

Edward Kamya is the store’s general manager. He referred media inquiries to the corporate level.

In the company’s marketing on social media this week regarding the opening, the city’s name was misspelled (without the “e”).

There are other Mexican-themed eateries, including Taco Bell and San Felipe Mexican, along the same stretch of East Dixie Drive.

Messages to Asheboro Mall, which is operated by Hull Property Group, seeking more information went unreturned.

The Chipotle Mexican Grill website lists more than 85 Chipotle locations in North Carolina. Chipotle was founded in 1993 in Colorado, though its corporate headquarters moved to California in 2018.
