SILER CITY — The Christmas for Thousands event that’s put on by Mountaire Farms will be held Saturday at the Siler City location.
The event begins at 8 a.m. with boxes that have been assembled to be distributed to pre-registered groups at the Chatham Charter School campus.
There are no walk-ups for this event, as all boxes are reserved for families, churches, and non-profits.
Mountaire Farms is partnering with hundreds of churches and non-profits in four states this month to provide complete meals for families in need for Christmas.
Each Mountaire Cares box can feed a family of four. They are stuffed with a plump Mountaire roaster chicken, canned corn, green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and brownie mix for dessert.
“The need always seems greater during the holidays, and we are blessed to be able to do what we can to help families this time of year,” said J.R. LaPearl, Director of Mountaire Cares, the company’s charitable giving program. “What I love about these events is that it brings people together to share love and kindness to one another. That is what Christmas is all about.”
The other North Carolina location will have its event in Lumber Bridge. Employees there will pack boxes Dec. 20, and those will be distributed on Dec. 22 at the Lumberton Housing Authority.
The Christmas event is part of the company’s program that also feeds people at Easter.
