Former Asheboro High School standout athlete Nick Coe was released from the roster of a Canadian Football League team.
The Edmonton Elks released Coe, a 25-year-old defensive lineman, on Sept. 13. He had played in two games this season for the Elks.
After playing for Asheboro during high school, Coe went on to a college career with Auburn before he was undrafted.
The Elks made the move to release Coe when they signed receiver Lucky Johnson.
The two previous years, Coe spent time on reserve units or practice squads with the NFL’s New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.
