Multiple departments working fire at Worthville Mill in Randleman

RANDLEMAN — Fire crews from across Randolph County responded to a fire at the old Worthville Mill on Russell Walker Avenue in Randleman on Saturday.

According to our news partners at Randolph News Now, at least 12 departments were on scene at the the three-story building, which has been abandoned for several years.

Unconfirmed reports from those familiar with the area indicate homeless individuals have used the site and could have started the fire to stay warm. Temperatures were expected to drop into the teens overnight.

Randolph County Emergency Services has told the public to avoid the area.
