One dead after shooting in Randleman

RANDLEMAN — One person is dead after a shooting at a part in Randleman on Saturday night.

Just before midnight on Saturday night, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at a residence on Leonae Drive in Randleman. The victim, Daniel Lopez Vences, 20, had been transported in a private vehicle to Randolph Hospital prior to the arrival of law enforcement. The alleged shooter had also fled the scene.

Witnesses at the Leonae address reported they were having a party at the residence. According to a release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 10:30 pm, an estimated twenty more people appeared at the party uninvited. At approximately 11:45 pm, a fight broke out in the front yard and multiple gunshots were fired by an unknown subject.

Crime Scene investigators were at the scene throughout the early morning hours of Sunday to collect information. The sheriff’s office confirmed Sunday morning that the victim had died from his injuries at the hospital.

The alleged shooter has not been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
