Commissioner says film’s impact can help Randolph County’s veterans

ASHEBORO – “The Veteran’s Battlefield” is a documentary that focuses on challenges for North Carolina veterans and it’s a valuable production as it relates to Randolph County, Hope Haywood said. “We’re working to have healthier veterans right here in our communities,” said Haywood, a county commissioner. The first of the documentary’s three screenings in Randolph County drew four dozen attendees Sunday to Sunset Theatre in Asheboro. Haywood, who’s the county’s liaison for the documentary, said among the goals is to bring awareness to the plights of veterans in the county. Archdale’s new library branch manager makes shift

Ashley Rose (Courtesy photo) ARCHDALE – Ashley Rose is the new branch manager of the Archdale Public Library and thankful for the opportunity. “It’s a pretty rare occasion when one of these becomes open,” Rose said last week. Rose replaces retired Matt Shaw, who finished at the end of 2023. He retired after 13 years. “I had been training with Matt in December,” Rose said. “I already worked with the Randolph County Public Libraries, so it was a good transition.” Rose came from the Asheboro Public Library, where she was primarily in the children’s room.
