Store closing adds vacant spot in Asheboro Mall

Here’s the spot that Rue21 had occupied in Asheboro Mall. (Randolph Record) ASHEBORO – There’s another vacant store space in Asheboro Mall. Rue21, a store specializing in teen apparel, filed for bankruptcy this spring and closed its stores. Asheboro Mall was previously called Randolph Mall. The spot previously occupied by Rue21 has been vacant for weeks. The mall’s website has about 30 businesses listed on its directory, including stand-alone outparcels. Downtown Asheboro boutique closing

ASHEBORO – The Nella Boutique in downtown Asheboro is closing after eight years. “And just as life shifts, so do seasons of what is best for us. At this time in our lives, children are growing, families are moving, and the needs outside of the store for our families has become greater,” said the owners in social media post announcing the closing of the store. The last day of business is July 31. Gift cards expire on that day as well. Nella Boutique opened in November 2016.

Two Asheboro stores fined for overcharging

ASHEBORO – Two retail stores in Asheboro have been fined by the Department of Agriculture after audits showed they overcharged customers at an unacceptable rate. Dollar General store at 435 N.C. 49 South and CVS Pharmacy at 440 East Dixie Dr. were cited. The Department of Agriculture’s Consumer Services’ Standards Division conducts audits of stores around the state to monitor retailers. This process identifies when posted prices in the stores differ from what customers are charged when purchases are scanned at check-out.
