ASHEBORO – The Asheboro boys’ basketball team breezed through three games in the SportsTone.net Christmas Invitational on its home court. The tournament didn’t provide much variety for the Blue Comets, who defeated teams it had already defeated a total of five times earlier this season. The title game Friday night at least proved to be a rubber match, with Asheboro trouncing Randleman 63-41 after the teams split two earlier meetings. Randleman, girls’ basketball Petty is one of the returning players for the Tigers, who had a strong senior class last season. She has been up the task. Petty, a senior guard, posted 24 points against Asheboro and 27 points against Ledford in a pair of games last week. RANDLEMAN – Carter Revelle threw 39 yards to Nicah Taylor for a third-quarter touchdown in a 22-21 victory against previously undefeated Randleman on Friday night in the regular-season finale to determine the Piedmont Athletic Conference championship.
