Prep football: Eastern Randolph, Randleman roll in first round

It worked out well for a couple of Randolph County football teams playing home games Friday night when the state playoffs began. Not so much for teams going on the road. Eastern Randolph and Randleman were the lone county teams to keep their seasons alive. Here’s a look: Eastern Randolph 68, Cherryville 7: In Class 1-A at Ramseur, the third-seeded Wildcats cruised against the No. 30 seed. Eastern Randolph (10-1) has won 10 consecutive games. Prep football: Eastern Randolph nips Randleman for PAC title

RANDLEMAN – Carter Revelle threw 39 yards to Nicah Taylor for a third-quarter touchdown in a 22-21 victory against previously undefeated Randleman on Friday night in the regular-season finale to determine the Piedmont Athletic Conference championship. The Wildcats (9-1 overall, 5-0 PAC) have gone unbeaten in 15 games in the conference’s current configuration. Revelle threw for two touchdowns, completing 12 of 16 passes for 162 yards. RANDLEMAN – John Kirkpatrick threw five of his six touchdown passes in the first half as Randleman blew out visiting Providence Grove 42-14 on Friday night in a Piedmont Athletic Conference football game. Tyshaun Goldston made five of the touchdown catches. Those plays covered 50, 33, 34, 41 and 20 yards. Kirkpatrick threw for 218 yards, completing 13 of 22 passes. The other touchdown pass from Kirkpatrick went for 9 yards to Jeffrey Guzman. The Tigers (7-0 overall, 2-0 PAC) still haven’t allowed more than 14 points in a game.
