Richard Hudson (file photo) Incumbents had smooth victories involving Randolph County’s statehouse representatives Richard Hudson was a big winner in keeping his North Carolina 9th Congressional District seat. Within Randolph County, he had 10,841 votes to Democrat Nigel Bristow’s 2,802. Hudson, who’s from Southern Pines, will have a seventh term in Congress. He turned 53 on Monday. Early voting brings high turnout in Randolph County

Sites in Archdale and Asheboro were busy  ASHEBORO – More than 12,000 voters went to the polls across the first three days of early voting in Randolph County. On the first day of early voting Thursday, the Randolph County Board of Elections reported that 4,715 ballots were cast, led by the 1,181 voters at the Community Services Building in Archdale and 1,049 voters at the board of elections headquarters in Asheboro. There are tweaks to locations for Randolph County early voters ASHEBORO – Early voting begins this week for the Nov. 5 general election. The early voting window runs from Oct. 17-Nov. 2, with the exception of Oct. 20. Voting times are 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays; and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. ASHEBORO – Randolph County will have at least one new county commissioner following the 2024 election. Challenger Lester Rivenbark of Asheboro headed the Republican field in Tuesday’s primary for the District 5 seat. Rivenbark received 8,479 votes for a safe lead on repeat commissioner candidate Chris McLeod, a Denton man who had 6,031. Incumbent Maxton McDowell of Asheboro had 4,713 votes. Rivenbark and Democrat Jane Ledwell-Gant will be on November’s ballot. Total turnout in Randolph County was at 24.2 percent of registered voters. There were 23,190 voters. ASHEBORO – Early voting for the March primary begins this week in Randolph County. The early voting window runs Feb. 15 through March 2. There are national, statewide and local contests on the primary ballot. In Randolph County, there are three Republicans on the primary ballot for the board of commissioners in District 5. ASHEBORO – Two incumbents on the Randolph County Board of Commissioners have filed paperwork to run for re-election. Kenny Kidd of Asheboro and Maxton McDowell of Asheboro are seeking to retain their seasons. The filing period for the March primary opened Dec. 4 and closes at noon Friday. The filings include federal offices, numerous statewide positions along with seats on the county level.
