Uwharrie Charter Academy, volleyball / softball Kenzie Hill made a big impact for Uwharrie Charter Academy in a couple of sports. She played for the highly successful volleyball and softball teams. She was an All-Piedmont Athletic Conference softball player as a sophomore and a senior. This year, she led the Eagles in batting with a .459 average and also turned in team highs with 34 runs batted in and 33 stolen bases. She provided two home runs and 10 triples. Turgeon received All-Piedmont Athletic Conference honors in girls’ tennis and softball as a senior.   In tennis, she captured the PAC Tournament singles championship last fall. She has been a regular for the Warriors, holding a spot in the lineup in 2021 as sophomore when Wheatmore claimed the PAC title with an undefeated team league mark. Wheatmore claimed its fourth straight conference girls’ tennis team title in 2022.   A pitcher and utility player, she was Wheatmore’s lone All-PAC softball selection in each of the past three seasons. Eastern Randolph, volleyball/softball Beaver played multiple sports with the Wildcats and was a key contributor along the way. She was an All-Piedmont Athletic Conference selection for volleyball and softball as a senior. In volleyball, Beaver led the team in aces and was in the top two among the Wildcats in hitting percentage and kills per set. She was a key offensive contributor in softball. Beaver, an outside hitter and middle hitter, has committed to play volleyball for Davidson-Davie Community College. Providence Grove, baseball Beasley made an impact in multiple sports at Providence Grove. As a senior for the Patriots during the baseball season, he landed a spot on the All-Piedmont Athletic Conference team. The captain was a pitcher and infielder for the Patriots. He led the team with a .365 batting average and he racked up a team-high five pitching victories during Providence Grove’s 10-14 season. Beasley also played basketball and football for the Patriots. Providence Grove, girls’ soccer, tennis Swaim participated in three sports for the Patriots and made big impacts. Last fall, she was a member of the Piedmont Athletic Conference champion girls’ tennis team. That included a spot on the All-PAC team. As a senior, she was part of the conference’s third-place doubles tandem. Swaim played key roles for Providence Grove’s girls’ soccer team during the spring. Southwestern Randolph, softball Thompson played a key role as the Cougars captured the Class 2A state championship this spring. The senior had several crucial plate appearances during Southwestern Randolph’s postseason run. She also was the team’s first baseman, helping the infield for a team that rode its pitching and defense for much of the regular season and the state playoffs. Uwharrie Charter Academy, baseball Carter has been a key member of back-to-back state championship teams with the Eagles. The senior infielder has been a steady performer in the field and at the plate. Carver scored the winning run in the eighth inning of Game 1 of the state championship series against Northside-Pinetown in Holly Springs. The next day in Game 2, which turned out to be the title-clinching game, he had one of the team’s hits. UCA has racked up 50 victories across the past two seasons.
