Steve Rightmyer stepped away from the position after one season, though the Tigers maintained their perch atop the Piedmont Athletic Conference. State playoffs: Home dates dot early postseason slates for Randolph County teams

PAC girls: Randleman rules again, captures tourney

RANDLEMAN – Randleman tightened its stronghold on Piedmont Athletic Conference girls’ basketball. The Tigers won the PAC Tournament for the third year in a row. Friday night’s home victory against second-seeded Southwestern Randolph came with Chenleigh Robinson tallying 19 points and Audra Petty providing 17 points. Southwestern Randolph (23-4) received 14 points from Jordin George and nine points from Macy Allred. The Cougars are 0-3 vs. Randleman this season. Randleman has gone three consecutive seasons without a loss in PAC competition. The Tigers won tournament finals the past two seasons by defeating UCA and Eastern Randolph in the championship games.…

Home victory vs. Southwestern Randolph keeps record perfect in league play RANDLEMAN – Looks like there’s going to be hesitation if there’s a changing of the guard in Piedmont Athletic Conference girls’ basketball. Randleman, which has ruled the league in recent seasons, is the lone undefeated team in PAC play entering this week. Yet it sure looked like an upset when the host Tigers defeated Southwestern Randolph. Audra Petty scored 15 points and Chenleigh Robinson had 11 points when Randleman won 47-41 on Friday night. Randleman, girls’ basketball Petty is one of the returning players for the Tigers, who had a strong senior class last season. She has been up the task. Petty, a senior guard, posted 24 points against Asheboro and 27 points against Ledford in a pair of games last week. In Randleman’s first three games, Petty has averaged 26.3 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds. She also was credited with 2.7 steals per game.
