The biggest came against defending Piedmont Athletic Conference champion Providence Grove, which fell by 7-1 to the Cougars. By week’s end, the Cougars held a 14-0 overall record and a 9-0 PAC mark, nearly wrapping up the regular-season title. Macie Crutchfield struck out 14 Providence Grove batters with a four-hitter.
