RANDLEMAN — A 21-year old from Southern Pines is the new Miss Randolph County. Ashley Leonard, a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, took home the title in a competition Saturday evening and will represent Randolph County next year in the Miss North Carolina competition. Ila Monical, 15, was crowned Miss Randolph County Teen. She’s a sophomore at Topsail High School in Hampstead. Miss Randolph County earns top 16 spot at Miss NC

HIGH POINT — Miss Randolph County Tori Gross earned a Top 16 finish at the Miss North Carolina competition last week in High Point. Taylor Loyd, Miss Statesville, was the winner. Gross received two scholarship awards during the week of competition totaling $2,750. “My work as Miss Randolph County is not finished, and I cannot wait to finish out my year as I serve our great county,” said Gross after the competition. Locals compete in Miss North Carolina competition

HIGH POINT — Miss North Carolina was crowned in High Point Saturday along with Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen. Karolyn Martin, of Boone, will represent North Carolina at Miss America, and Kerrigan Brown, of Spivey’s Corner, will compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. The Miss America competition, traditionally held in Atlantic City, will be held at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut for the third year in a row.
