The driver from Northampton, Pa, led all except a few laps to win the North-South Shootout on Saturday at Caraway Speedway. The headliner for the racing is Matt Hirschman, who’s a nine-team North-South Shootout champion. Hirschman, a Pennsylvania driver, will seek his fourth straight title in the main Modifieds division, which involves 125 laps. Hirschman won for the third year in a row in the 125-lap Modifieds feature Saturday. Hirschman, a driver from Pennsylvania, became an eight-time winner of the 20-year event with Saturday’s victory at Caraway Speedway. Burt Myers of Winston-Salem placed second, while fast qualifier Patrick Emerling, a New Yorker, was third. Emerling’s qualifying team was 15.919 seconds, edging Hirschman, Kyle Scisco, Caleb Heady and Brian Loftin. Jimmy Blewett briefly led the 125-lap feature, while Myers held the front spot for 43 laps. SOPHIA – Championship night has nearly arrived at Caraway Speedway. Track champions will be determined Saturday night at the speedway. After some weather-related cancelations involving scheduled race nights at the track, this should be a busy regular-season finale. Races are set for Late Models (60 laps), Modifieds (35), Challengers (35), Mini Stocks (20), UCARs (15), Legacy (25), Bootleggers (10) and Enduro (10). Some classes haven’t raced since August at the track.
