Caraway cooks up winter racing card after banquet

SOPHIA – It was a look to the past and accelerating to the future for Caraway Speedway. The raceway has scheduled its first on-track action of the year for Saturday. IT’s the third annual Winter Heat with competition in Limited Late Models, Pro Late Models, 602 Modifieds, UCARs, Bootleggers, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and a combination of Chargers and Challengers. Racing is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. But during the past weekend, the speedway recognized its 2024 championship at its annual banquet. The driver from Northampton, Pa, led all except a few laps to win the North-South Shootout on Saturday at Caraway Speedway. Hirschman has won the last four editions of the fall event and claimed his 10th North-South Shootout victory overall. Hirschman held the pole position and was in control for much of the 125-lap race, which was a start-and-stop event with more than 10 cautions with a field of 32 cars. Casper, who was on the pole, was ahead of Calabro and Dean Lowder in the first race. There was only a six-car field.
