ASHEBORO – The Randolph County Board of Commissioners approved various sheriff’s office items, including an agreement between the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Ramseur for the provision of law enforcement services, during a meeting earlier this month. Missing Randolph County man found

ASHEBORO – A Randolph County man who had been missing for several weeks has been located in Alabama. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Craig Cox, 43, was located in Hoover, Alabama, during the weekend. Cox had been entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. He had last been seen near Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in mid-February. Reports had come back to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department that Cox had entered Mexico. He had re-entered the United States in Texas. RAMSEUR – A student was found with a firearm at Eastern Randolph High School on Friday, deputies said. The Randolph County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that a school resource officer received a report that a student had a gun on campus. The school resource officer found the student, and a search of the student led to the officer confiscating the gun. The firearm was secured without incident. There were no injuries and no one was in the building at the time of the incident, according to emergency workers on the scene. Asheboro, county schools take precautions from social media threat

ASHEBORO – Schools throughout Randolph County continued with classes Friday with increased law enforcement presence because of threats stemming from social media. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deployed extra deputies to all school campuses, according to the department. “As in any instance of a threat, precautions are being taken. Additional law enforcement are present on school campuses in Randolph County," according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
