Walters captures two Chargers victories at Caraway Speedway

SOPHIA — Mason Walters won both Chargers races during Saturday night’s action at Caraway Speedway.

Walters edged points leader Matthew Smith in the first of the two 20-lap races. In the second race, Walters passed Cory Wilson with two laps remaining for the victory. Wilson was the runner-up after a third-place finish in the first race.

** In UCARs, Tito Clapp held off fast qualifier Jeremy Kidd in the 25-lap race. Clapp led on an inverted restart and never relinquished the front position. Jimmy Cooper placed third ahead of Josh Phillips and Justin Smith.

** Brandon Mock returned to victory lane in the Crown Vic division, with the next four spots held by Steven Collins, Brandon Collins, Thomas Hensley and TJ Gibson.

** The Mini Stocks winner was Tyler Bush with a few strong final laps. Brandon Crotts was second.

** Jaxson Casper won the 602 Modifieds race ahead the Joel Belanger.

** In Enduros, Thomas Hensley prevailed across 50 laps.

The next racing night is June 28 with Grand National Super Series for two 50-lappers plus Chargers and twin UCARs and Crown Vics.
