ASHEBORO — Chuck Powers, founder of the Randolph Christian Men, would like to see a record turnout for Sunday’s Back-to-School Prayer Night. HIGH POINT — Miss North Carolina was crowned in High Point Saturday along with Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen. Karolyn Martin, of Boone, will represent North Carolina at Miss America, and Kerrigan Brown, of Spivey’s Corner, will compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. The Miss America competition, traditionally held in Atlantic City, will be held at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut for the third year in a row. Commencement ceremonies for most high schools in Randolph County are scheduled for next Wednesday. June 8 events will take place for schools in the Randolph County School System. Asheboro High School’s commencement will be a night later, coming at 7 p.m. June 9 at Lee J. Stone Stadium on campus. ASHEBORO — An Easter-based program improvised last year by the City of Asheboro’s Cultural and Recreation Services department is back again this year, along with a more traditional event.  When the normal Easter youth activities for 2021 were cancelled because of concerns related to COVID-19, the City of Asheboro created a different type of Easter egg hunt. Zoo will host three-day science festival

ASHEBORO — A month-long celebration of science will include an event at the North Carolina Zoo in April. The North Carolina Science Festival presents events across the state and this year Asheboro will host the three-day “Tinkering for Tomorrow” experience at the Kidzone at the zoo. The event runs April 1 through April 3 from 10am to 2pm.
