Brecken Snotherly of Eastern Randolph will be in the Class 1-A state meet for track and field this week. (Randolph Record) Gracie Beane of Randleman and Brecken Snotherly of Eastern Randolph were regional individual champions in multiple events in track and field and they’ll lead the contingent of Randolph County entrants into the state meet this week at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro. The Cougars had the right combination, riding Macie Crutchfield’s no-hitter to Friday night’s 5-0 victory. Southwestern Randolph (21-1) has a third-round home game against No. 10 seed Mount Pleasant on Tuesday night. Ky Perdue went 3-for-3 and scored three runs, while Madison Varner drove in two runs. Eastern Randolph, softball Eastern Randolph carried a four-game winning streak into spring break, and McDaniel did her part. Posting two hits in a Piedmont Athletic Conference victory against Randleman was among her contributions. McDaniel, a senior infielder, also drove in two runs in the Randleman game. She had a hit and scored a run in a 2-1 victory at Northern Guilford. She also scored in a one-run decision against Providence Grove. With six doubles and 13 runs batted in, she’s among the team leaders in several offensive categories. McDaniel was an All-PAC girls’ golfer in the fall.

So the outcome didn’t go as preferred for the Wildcats, who had late-game struggles in a 17-11 road loss to Southern Alamance.
