Racing set to resume at Caraway; Duggins comes off Challengers victory

SOPHIA – The next regular racing night at the track comes Saturday with the Grand National Super Series holding two 50-lap races. There also will be competition in regular divisions such as Challengers, 602 Mods, UCARs, Bootleggers and Mod 4s. Brody Duggins edged Dalton Ledbetter to win the Challengers feature in the David Saunders Memorial competition May 11 at Caraway Speedway. Duggins moved to the front by passing Brian Rose on the 18th lap and held on for less than a 1-second advantage on Ledbetter. SOPHIA – Bowman Gray Stadium regulars made big impacts in Saturday night's main event at Caraway Speedway. Burt Myers was the winner of the SMART Modified Tour’s Revolutionary 99, followed by Tim Brown and Ronnie Williams. “It feels great,” Myers said. “Things kind of clicked and we came together. Lowder was the fastest qualifier and once he moved into the lead he never gave up the front spot in the 40-lap race. He won the fifth time this year at the track. Kevin Orlando made a late bid after a caution, but he ended up in second place. Ward claims Late Models win in Caraway opener

SOPHIA – There was a different driver in a certain Late Models car but a familiar name behind the wheel when Caraway Speedway’s points season opened Sunday. It began the 57th season at the track. Third-generation driver Trevor Ward guided a car owned by former track champion Jay Hedgecock to the victory in the 60-lap race. Ward led for about the last 40 laps after getting around pole sitter Coy Beard, the 2020 champion who finished as the runner-up. Tony Black was third, and reigning track champion Blaise Brinkley took fourth ahead of Daniel Schadt in the nine-car field. On…
