Teams in those leagues play five conference games. Randleman became the outright regular-season champion in Piedmont Athletic Conference volleyball with a little help last week. The Tigers (17-3 overall, 11-1 PAC) finished with a one-match edge on Uwharrie Charter Academy Southwestern Randolph nipped visiting UCA 25-21, 17-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-11 in Thursday night’s regular-season finale, knocking the Eagles from a share of the title. ASHEBORO – Uwharrie Charter Academy’s volleyball team has tightened the race atop the Piedmont Athletic Conference. The Eagles pulled even with first-place Randleman in the loss column by defeating the visiting Tigers last week. The Eagles won 15-12, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-6 with Emory Johnson’s 40 assists, Carolina Way’s 19 kills and 17 digs and Kayden Faglier’s 10 kills and seven blocks leading the way. ASHEBORO – Quincey Lee ran for two touchdowns and Asheboro’s football team reached the two-win mark for the first time in five years by defeating visiting Providence Grove 17-10 on Friday night in a non-conference game. Asheboro’s Connor Brinton gained 155 yards on 24 carries. Micah Garcia drilled a 24-yard field goal. Lee also led Asheboro’s defense with an interception and a fumble recovery.
