Asheboro, boys’ soccer Asheboro won 11 of its first 13 games and Letterlough has been a big part of the success. The senior forward leads the Blue Comets with 29 goals and 14 assists. Letterlough emerged as an Asheboro standout as a freshman in 2021 before time away to concentrate on club soccer. This year, Letterlough is part of an Asheboro offense that scored nine goals in three consecutive games in a late-September stretch. He’s an anchor on the offense line for the undefeated Wildcats, who’ll be aiming to win the Piedmont Athletic Conference for a fourth season in a row when the league slate begins next week. High school football games in Randolph County this week have been moved for a second time to try to find a window of good weather. Now, the games originally slated for Friday night are set for 6 p.m. Saturday (after a mid-week decision to play those Thursday night was scrapped because of more weather-related concerns). There are just two games involving county teams this week as five other teams all are scheduled to be off. Game times have been adjusted. SOPHIA – Dalton Ledbetter and Justin Hathcock claimed victories in Challengers features Saturday night at Caraway Speedway. Man charged after Toyota Battery Manufacturing plant bomb threat

(Bob Sutton / Randolph Record) LIBERTY – An arrest was made following what was determined to be a false bomb threat directed at the under-construction Toyota Battery Manufacturing plant. Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced that Michael John Poirier, 38, of Elon is facing felony charges for a false bomb report. The threat came Monday afternoon directed at the facility on Julian Airport Road. Poirier was arrested at his home and he’s being held on a $30,000 bond, the sheriff’s office said.
